Carly Grubbs joined the Creative Approach Development Center as a Community Relations Manager in May of 2019. She’s excited to translate her previous experience in healthcare regulatory compliance to a position that would allow her to learn how to better serve Richmond’s special needs community. She hopes to promote service quality, accessibility, and availability by developing relationships with the communities and stakeholders affiliated with Creative Approach Development.
Carly has a BS in Communication with a focus in Public Relations from Radford University.

What are your thoughts on discouraging/limiting peoples’ goals and dreams because they may seem too advantageous or beyond the person’s ability?
It’s important to manage expectations while also being mindful that expectations can shape outcomes; both are limited by current understanding and personal bias.

What was a challenge you have overcome?
Realizing everyone is not going to like me. And I’m not going to like everyone. And that’s ok.
How do you get through the tough days?
Remind myself to be patient -things will change. Mindfulness exercises. Observe and accept how I feel without making any judgments.
