Neurodiverse Individuals

While learning is a lifelong process, it is definitely not one size fits all. Creative Approach Development Center specializes in designing and hosting workshops that support neurodiverse learners to increase their chances of understanding, remembering, and applying the strategies and information learned to help them reach goals of independence. Workshops in this tract are formated with visuals to support print and verbal instructions, frequent movement breaks to increase focus and prevent burnout and overstimulation, sensory fidgets, time for discussion, and more. Below is a list of current workshops that are available for sign-up. If you have any questions or see a workshop or class you are interested in that does not have a registration link or shows it has filled, please fill out the form below for help.

Internet & Social Media Safety

Data shows that every day over 5 billion people across the globe use the internet for work, school, staying in touch with each other, to pass time, and to meet new people. While most users are online with good intentions, there are some who prey on young children, the elderly, and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are not as aware of the proper strategies to stay safe while being digitally engaged. This 4-part interactive workshop is designed for neurodiverse individuals ages 18 and up to educate them about the various concerns related to internet and social media use and provides tools and resources for them to develop their own safety manual and guidelines. Topics that will be covered during this training include:

  • Setting up secure online accounts
  • Internet & Social media etiquette
  • Creating boundaries
  • Balancing online use & mental health
  • Creating an action plan for when red flags are recognized

This course meets once a week for 4 consecutive weeks. Attendees will participate in discussions, small group case studies, guided reflection, and creating multiple visuals and resources to help them integrate their newly learned skills into their daily use. Tuition for this workshop is $60 which includes a $20 registration fee, a workbook, and the materials needed for the class. Multiple payment options are available.
