Lately, there have been lots of talks geared towards parents and caregivers focused on understanding mental health, self-care, and burnout but what does it all mean? This discussion with Healing Hearts Counseling & Consulting Agency’s Founder &  Counselor Nicole Hunter, LPC, CCTP helps parents and caregivers understand mental health, how to assess their own, and strategies to prevent them from burning out.

There are many things to consider and include when helping your child prepare for life after high school. But, are you including things to help them mentally and emotionally prepare? When we think about life after high school we traditionally think about going off to college. But, for many, this option is not a good fit. Join Dr. Z as she shares different options for life after high school as well as some tools and activities to help you and your child/student decide which path is best for them.

This worksheet helps you identify triggers. Triggers are activities, items, and even people who change your mood. Being able to identify your triggers is helpful because if you know them, you can avoid them and use your coping skills if you come in contact with them. 

So Triggered!

This worksheet helps us identify what is something we have control over and those we do not. The purpose is to show some things occur that are beyond our control and with those situations, we should not overreact and let it affect us in a major way.

Reflecting on your behavior helps you see what changes you can make the next time you are exposed to trigger or a challenging situation. It also helps you celebrate the positive reactions you have and remember to use them the next time.

Sometimes we have more than one emotion at once. Sometimes our emotions feel similar but mean different things. This activity helps you pay attention to how emotions make you feel and points out some of the similarities between them.
